Construction estimators have highlighted a number of steps that preconstruction companies can take to streamline their work and maximize profits.
The steps say the estimators, can help identify potentially profitable projects, improve the bidding process, and increase the chances of winning more contracts.
The estimators identified these measures in a survey conducted by Niche SSP to find out how preconstruction businesses can zero in on efficiency, productivity, and profits.
According to the results of the survey, the winning strategy for the preconstruction companies has four pillars — historical data, training and development, bid day, and estimating software.
Needless to say that the majority of the preconstruction companies prefer traditional working methods and squander great opportunities in the process.
Those ahead of the curve are already making better bids, securing more contracts, and gaining rapid recognition in the construction sector.
Use of historical data, not excel sheets or roughing out numbers on calculators, will help you come up with a precise bid, say the majority of the estimators (40 percent) during the poll.
Niche SSP has interviewed 1,321 construction estimators for their views on what can be done to remove bottlenecks from the preconstruction businesses.
What the construction estimators say becomes all the more important as the post-pandemic recovery phase continues to baffle businesses like never before.
How do you account for runaway inflation when you have just calculated the elusive escalation in the prices of materials? And how dearly the staff shortages are going to cost when you just brought in the best subcontractor?
The US Chamber of Commerce reports that 91 percent of the contractors say they face difficulties in finding skilled workers.
Training and developments should be a regular feature to enhance the skill and capacity of the professional associated with the preconstruction industry, say 29 percent of the surveyed estimators.
Another 15 percent of the estimators believe introducing estimating software can solve some of the most challenging estimation problems, and smoothen the bidding process.
While 15 percent of the estimators underline better preparations for the bid day to win contracts for their companies.
