Procore is a construction management software that helps contractors manage their projects and connect with their teams. It is a cloud-based software with a variety of features, such as project management, document management, financial management, and safety & quality management. Procore is used by small, medium, and large construction companies all over the world.
Procore features a dedicated construction estimating tool which boasts the ability to provide faster takeoffs, more accurate bids, and ultimately, more competitive tenders. At NicheSSP, we're firm believers that construction estimator software should make construction estimator jobs easier, not harder. After all, construction estimators already have enough on their plates without having to worry about the technology they're using.
So let's dive in.
First, let’s clear some of the confusion around Procore vs Esticom
Esticom is a cloud-based construction estimating software that was acquired by Procore in 2021. On the acquisition, Chris Lee, founder of Esticom said “Contractors who use Esticom typically see a three-fold increase in the number of construction projects they can estimate and a five-fold increase in takeoff speed. Esticom is modernizing preconstruction by replacing paper plans and spreadsheets and delivering more accurate estimates. We look forward to further advancing preconstruction as part of the Procore platform,”
The acquisition of Esticom clearly brings a range of new capabilities to Procore’s general offering.
Procore plans to fully integrate the Esticom software into Procore’s offering. This was expected to be completed by 2021, though it hasn’t happened as of Q4 2022, it’s expected to take place soon.
Many of Procores Estimating benefits will come from Esticom, at the moment the two key feature areas include improvements in Takeoff & Estimating Takeoff
Procore Pricing varies depending on which modules from the total software suite that you choose to use. They also don’t publish prices the full range of prices publicly, but you can find recent prices online. Project management starts at $375 per month, with the addition of financial management is $549 per month.
Procore offers a variety of training options to help users get the most out of the software. There are online courses, in-person training, and certified training options. Online courses are self-paced and cover a variety of topics, such as project management, document management, and financial management. Certified Training options cover every role from field workers to estimators and engineers to owners.

Popular choice because it offers a variety of features around general construction management as well as a dedicated construction estimating tool. If you'd like all of the software in your construction firm to be under the same provider, this might make a smart choice.
Procore offers a variety of features beyond estimating, such as project management, document management, financial management, and safety & quality management. Its main strength lies in connecting teams and roles across the construction company. This means an engineer in LA can work seamlessly with an architect in Tampa, while the owner is in New York, on the project site in Richmond.
You can use Procore for free with Procore’s free trial, but there is unfortunately no free plan for continued use.
While Esticom is a competitor to Procore that was acquired by Procore in 2021, more generally, Sage & Buildertrend are two other companies that offer similar general construction management software.
Procore Technologies, Inc. was founded in 2002 by Tooey Courtemanche and is headquartered in Carpinteria, California.
