Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret contract documents and specifications across various project types, including hard-bid/lump sum, construction management, and design-build models.
- Develop comprehensive critical path schedules with key milestones to ensure projects are completed on time.
- Conduct detailed quantity take-offs for labor, equipment, and materials, particularly for large-scale scopes of work.
- Lead the development and execution of pricing strategies for general expenses and project-specific requirements.
- Collaborate with the operations team to prepare as-bid estimates and develop trade buy-out strategies.
- Prepare and deliver compelling proposals and presentations to clients.
- Conduct thorough risk and opportunity analyses and incorporate findings into the project’s risk register.
- Manage the tender development process, working closely with external consultants.
- Monitor and ensure that project-specific success criteria are met, offering innovative solutions to overcome challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent trade experience.
- 12+ years of experience in construction cost estimating, with on-site experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects valued up to $250 million.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, planning, and scheduling techniques.
- Extensive experience in bid preparation, trade procurement, and bid closing processes.
- In-depth knowledge of contract terms and the ability to identify and mitigate contract risks.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Highly adaptable, with the capacity to manage varying workloads.
- Team-oriented with a hands-on approach and a commitment to mentoring others.
