Role Overview
As Director of Mechanical, you will be a key executive leader responsible for the oversight, strategy, and delivery of mechanical systems across a wide range of projects. You will partner closely with operations, preconstruction, and field teams to drive best practices, technical excellence, and client satisfaction. This is a strategic leadership role with a blend of technical, operational, and business development responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all mechanical scopes from preconstruction through project closeout across multiple large-scale commercial projects
- Serve as the subject matter expert for mechanical systems, providing guidance on design, construction, commissioning, and turnover
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design partners, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
- Identify project risks and work proactively with teams to develop mitigation strategies
- Mentor and develop project teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability
- Support business development efforts, including project pursuits and client presentations
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical construction leadership within a General Contractor or large-scale mechanical subcontractor environment
- Proven success overseeing major mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, mission critical, or institutional projects valued $50M+
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent experience considered
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and client-facing skills
- Deep technical knowledge of mechanical systems, with ability to advise on best practices and drive continuous improvement
- Familiarity with design-build and collaborative project delivery models strongly preferred
