We are representing a leading General Contractor in their search for a Director of Preconstruction to join their Orlando operations. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity within a thriving and well-respected construction firm known for delivering high-profile projects across multiple sectors.

Position Overview

The Director of Preconstruction will manage and oversee all preconstruction activities, ensuring seamless collaboration between clients, design teams, and internal operations. You will be responsible for leading a team of estimators and preconstruction managers, driving early project planning efforts, and providing strategic input to ensure projects are competitively priced and aligned with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of preconstruction, including conceptual budgeting, detailed estimating, scheduling, logistics planning, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with business development and operations teams to evaluate and pursue new opportunities.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing preconstruction team.
  • Partner closely with design teams, owners, and trade partners to ensure project feasibility and accurate early-stage planning.
  • Oversee the preparation of RFP responses and client presentations.
  • Maintain and update historical cost data and market trends to improve estimating accuracy.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership based on project analysis and market conditions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive preconstruction experience within the commercial construction sector.
  • Proven leadership experience managing a preconstruction or estimating team.
  • Strong background in CMAR (Construction Manager at Risk) and Design-Build delivery methods.
  • Extensive experience with healthcare, education, commercial, and/or institutional projects.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and preconstruction technologies.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
